The Unseen is a different kind of acting school

Casting directors are looking for the next big thing, fresh voices who are able to bring language alive in a less ‘overly crafted and laboured’ fashion. For the past 8 years we have held that exact vision in mind for our training and our students and our flexible and inclusive approach to traditional acting methodologies is the exact reason that we are the fastest growing acting school in the UK.

So what do we teach?

Morning (beginner/intermediate)

Our new, luxurious facility offers a unique and immersive training experience with dedicated spaces for specialised learning. The third floor is exclusively designed for screen acting techniques, while the fourth floor focuses on general acting technique and methodology. Students will engage in both disciplines throughout their training day, seamlessly moving between floors to enhance their skills. Our program is built around two core focuses:

The first focus emphasises psycho-physical techniques, exploring the powerful connection between body, psychology, and imagination. This approach generates a wide range of sensations and emotions, guiding actors towards authentic and truthful performances.

The second focus draws from a spectrum of established acting methodologies, including Meisner repetition, Stanislavski, Uta Hagen, Adler, and Chekhov techniques. Delivered by two of our expert trainers each day, this structure effectively doubles the learning opportunities for our students, providing a comprehensive and dynamic approach to actor training.

Afternoon

The late morning to early afternoon session focuses on selected scene work with partners. Students learn how to apply actioning principles, gestures and their acting tools to scenes, which are then performed to the class. Our course tutors provide full feedback and direction which students incorporate and then re-perform to ensure progress.

Late afternoon (intermediate/advanced)

The late afternoon focuses on subconscious creation, drawing from two schools, one premised on the Stanislavski approach to method acting and the other focusing on revolving techniques including Chekhov, Uta Hagen and Meisner. The combination of techniques at The Unseen is used to encourage spontaneity and discover ‘real’ impulse beyond the ego centre “to live truthfully under the imaginary circumstances”. Premised on using the Unseen, our advanced acting classes focus heavily on the energy and spirit of the actor.

Advanced groups

The advanced groups take a fluid approach and incorporates specific techniques designed to push more experienced actors
outside of their comfort zone and into consistent progression.

*please be aware that the schedule can be changed at any time and we vary sessions frequently so this is purely a guideline.

Due to the rolling nature of our courses and flexibility provided to renewing students, we aim to place students in starting groups
of a similar level and our weekly observation team make class level movement offers weekly.
