FAQs

Your questions, answered.

Everything you need to know about training at The Unseen, from your first class to your first agent.

Getting started

Do I need any acting experience?

No. Since 2016, we’ve trained complete beginners through to working professionals. Classes are split into morning sessions (beginner and intermediate) and afternoon sessions (intermediate and advanced), so you train with actors at your level.

How old do I need to be?

Our acting school is for adults, 18 and over.

Where are the classes?

At Spotlight, 16 Garrick Street, Covent Garden, London WC2E 9BA: the UK’s leading casting facilities, in the same rooms where the country’s best-known actors audition. Can’t make it to London? See our Online Membership below.

When are the classes?

Every weekend. You choose Saturday or Sunday, 9.30am to 2.30pm. Existing students can move into advanced afternoon sessions, 3.30pm to 8.30pm, by agreement with their tutors.

Can I train around a full-time job?

Yes. That’s exactly what our weekend courses are designed for. Our Industry Lab classes are live online in the evening, so they fit around work too.

Can I train online, or if I can’t make weekends?

Yes. Our Online Membership is £99 a month, for remote students and anyone who can’t attend weekend classes. You get 3 live Zoom classes every week (Theatre Club, Film Club and The Casting Room) and The Unseen Planner: send us a self tape and we’ll send you a 30-day plan built around your goal and your classes. Want to go further? Add the Showcase for £100 to perform in an Unseen showcase and get personal feedback.

Courses and prices

How much do courses cost?

From September 2026: Studio is £199 + VAT (£238) for four weeks (20 hours in studio). Premier, our most popular, is £375 for six weeks (48 hours). Industry is £450 for six weeks (48 hours plus a filmed one-to-one). Prices include VAT where applicable. Training online? Our Online Membership is £99 a month. See the Prices page for everything each package includes.

Which package is right for me?

Studio is for building confidence and strong foundations. Premier adds showcase submission to agencies and casting directors, The Unseen Industry Lab and a free headshot for new students. Industry is our most complete programme: everything in Premier, plus a 45-minute career session with a manager and a casting director, and an expert-directed self tape filmed before and after direction.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Flexible payment plans are available on every package. Just ask when you book.

Does paying more put me in a higher class?

No. Progression into advanced classes is based on ability, never on which package you buy.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes. New students receive an official certificate of completion for our six-week course.

What is The Unseen Industry Lab?

Live online classes on Zoom, every week at 7pm: Theatre Club on Tuesdays, our new Film Club on Wednesdays with Arjun Rose and Oli Moulden, and The Casting Room on Thursdays. It’s included with Premier, Industry and our Online Membership.

What is The Unseen Planner?

A tailored daily practice plan built from your self tape and your training with us. It’s free for 30 days on our Industry package, and included every month in our Online Membership. Longer plans, and plans for our other packages, are coming soon. See the Planner.

The training

What will I learn?

Screen acting and stage technique, built on two pillars: psycho-physical work (body, psychology and imagination) and acting methodologies inspired by Meisner, Stanislavski, Uta Hagen, Adler and Chekhov. Afternoon sessions focus on scene work. See our methods.

Who teaches the classes?

Tuition is led by our founder Arjun Rose and Oliver Moulden, supported by guest tutors including actors, agents and casting directors.

Do you run masterclasses?

Yes. Our guest masterclasses have included Academy Award winner Daniel Kaluuya, Ben Barnes, Natalie Dormer, Ed Skrein and Robert Sheehan. Guest masterclasses are free for renewing Premier and Industry students.

How will I know I’m improving?

Every course builds to a taped showcase piece. You get preliminary notes during the week, then detailed final feedback, plus a grade from an external agent or casting director. A weekly observation team also checks every student is at the right level.

Showcases and representation

How do the showcases work?

Every four to six weeks you record a showcase piece, with in-house taping available. On Premier and Industry, graded showcases are sent to leading agencies, casting directors, producers and directors.

Which agencies see the showcases?

Our showcases are regularly viewed by agencies including The Artists Partnership, Independent Talent, Curtis Brown, Denton Brierley and Luber Roklin.

Do you represent actors?

Yes. From September 2026, The Unseen Group represents acting talent directly through our in-house agency, alongside the showcases we send to external agencies. See Opportunity.

Who has trained at The Unseen?

Actors who have trained with us include Archie Renaux, Solly McLeod, BAFTA winner Mia McKenna-Bruce and Nancy Surridge. Read our student reviews.

Do I get a headshot?

New students on Premier and Industry get a free professional headshot.
